The fourth EducaRUE partners meeting has been held in Prenzlau, Germany, last 10th and 11th December 2009.
The European Commission Project Officer, Ms. Nathalie Cliquot, also took part to the meeting. The partners presented the activities they had carried out in the framework of the Project, paying particular attention to the training activities, the identification of national financial incentives and the realization of the executive project in the selected schools. The meeting has been particularly important for partners to plan the activities to be carried out in the next six months. The Project Officer highlighted that the Commission has great expectations on EducaRUE project, due to the very important issues it deals with. In fact, the works for a new European Directive are in progress, obliging by 2018 new constructed buildings to adopt ecocompatible criteria with ad zero impact emissions. She underlined the importance of the realization of a model of intervention to adopt in the selected schools which can also be spread in the territories of the partners (Italy, U.K., Germany and Spain) but also at European level. The Project is now entering a decisive phase since the partners will have to realize some of the most important results i.e. the realization of local plans which can spread a model of intervention taking into account the innovative financial mechanisms identified (such as project-financing, leasing, public-private partnership) which public administrations with a direct competence on schools can put into practice; the realization of an executive project for the schools selected in the framework of the Project which becomes a model which can be replicable on the territory for the realization of similar interventions of energy efficiency in schools, in application of the European Directive about Energy Performance of Buildings; the realization of EducaPOL training course, an e-learning platform in 4 languages (Italian, English, German and Spanish) directed to public administrators working in the school building sector. The partners had the opportunity to visit the High School “Prenzlauer Gymnasium” of the Municipality of Prenzlau - selected as representative building - and the premises of Aleo Solar (a firm producing photovoltaic panels) with which the Municipality is collaborating in some projects financing the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of local schools. |
